"For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them" ~ Aristotle
Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) derives from a very old form of teaching known as experiential learning. It's been used as far back as the ancient Greeks. The method succeeds where classrooms, books, and other theoretical methods fail. Like those great teachers, we believe some important lessons are best learned through activities, not workbooks.
In other words, EAL focuses on doing, not thinking.
What makes EAL unique to the field of experiential learning is our horses. At Gateway Farms, our staff facilitate; our horses are your guides. But why horses?
Horses are naturally attuned to balanced, calm energy. They keenly understand the difference between centred, thoughtful actions and anxious, unbalanced decisions.
As a herd animal, horses promote leadership through their body language and physical presence. And most incredible of all, when you work with a horse, it motivates you to follow your inner voice, not the one you’ve accustomed yourself to.
YOU WILL DISCOVER
THAT HORSES ARE
PROFOUND, WISE TEACHERS.
Horses have symbolized strength, collective unity, and unfettered expression since before we tamed them 6,000 years ago. Due to modern technology, we've lost our bond with horses and nature. Worse, we're losing confidence in ourselves.
At GatewayFarms, we aim to rebuild the inner confidence you’ve lost.
You don't need previous riding experience, nor any experience with horses. All lessons take place on the ground. Our well-trained facilitators are always nearby, ready to answer questions or provide feedback.
